Craigslist can be a buyer’s paradise or their worst nightmare. The site is full of amazing deals and hard-to-find gems, but is also a frequent target of fraudsters and scam artists.
PayOnDelivery protects craigslist buyers from losing their money on dubious deals. For example, you might find a great deal on a used laptop on craigslist, but feel uneasy about sending a money order or PayPal payment for an item you don’t have in your hands. Naturally, you’re worried you’re going to pay, but never actually get the laptop.
PayOnDelivery ensures you only pay for the laptop when it arrives at your house and in the condition you were promised. Our system works with craigslist and other classified sites so you can buy from anyone without the fear of getting ripped off.
How It Works
Some craigslist sellers are already using PayOnDelivery to secure payments. When you browse craigslist listings you might see a link back to a PayOnDelivery page that looks like this:
All you need to do from craigslist is click the link back to PayOnDelivery. Once you get to the seller’s page, you just enter your billing and shipping information. After you review and confirm your information, PayOnDelivery notifies the seller to log in and either accept or reject your bid.
If the seller accepts your bid, PayOnDelivery will place a temporary hold on the funds in your account, but won’t transfer anything to the seller. The temporary hold only assures the seller that you have the funds to pay for the item you just purchased.
Once you receive the item from the seller you have 24 hours to let PayOnDelivery know that you either accept it or plan to return it. PayOnDelivery only charges your card when you accept the item. If you choose to return it instead, we’ll give you a shipping label and help you send it back to the seller.
PayOnDelivery also gives you the option of inviting sellers to use our system. If you don’t see a PayOnDelivery link in a craigslist posting, you can ask the seller to load their item to our site and complete the transaction from there.
